About the Festival

This year we are back inside the grandstand enclosure. Read on for an outline of what to expect if you missed out last year.

The festival is across three levels inside the grandstand, along with the grandstand terraces. There is a lift for those who cannot use the stairs. We also have a music tent outside adjacent to the grandstand building. There will be a lot of seating, both indoors over three floors of the grandstand building and on the hardstanding outside.

You can bring a picnic (but not your own drinks, see below). The grandstand terraces are there to use, with a view across the racecourse towards the city, and its under cover should we be unlucky with the weather. There’s also lots of table and benches on the tarmac in front of the grandstand, and on the small grass area by the band tent. So please feel free to bring a picnic and make a day of it. The food concessions will be there if you’re still hungry.

You aren’t allowed to bring your own drinks to the festival, with the exception of bottled water. Beer, Cider, Wine, Soft Drinks and Water are all available on site, along with a Gin Bar. You will be asked to leave your own drinks outside the Festival.

After last year’s changes to the way beer and cider are taxed, you can’t take any home with you. So we won’t have any carry-out containers, and please don’t bring your own.

Remember to bring your credit/debit card or payment device, because we won’t be taking cash at the entrance or at the bars.

Well-behaved children are welcome, but must be accompanied at all times by a (well-behaved) parent or guardian. Please note we do not have a crèche or other supervised area for children. Young people (under18) accompanied by an adult will be admitted free of charge, but they do not receive a glass or programme and cannot drink alcohol.

All reasonable precautions have been taken to ensure visitor safety; however, unsupervised children could injure themselves if they are not properly controlled. For the safety of children and all those attending the festival the parent or guardian of a child found to be unsupervised or misbehaving may be asked to leave the festival with the child.

As we don’t have any open space, only service dogs will be allowed at the festival.

Anyone lucky enough to look under 25 will be asked for ID, so don’t forget to bring it along.

For safety and security reasons, bags will be searched on entry. If drugs or dangerous items are found you will not be allowed in – and if any are found later you will be asked to leave.
